Windward Islands

At the Eastern reaches of the Caribbean region, the Windward Islands stretch in a long chain from Martinique in the north to Granada, the most southerly point, including St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Barbados and the Grenadines.

St. Lucia and Martinique offer an interesting contrast of English and French culture. St. Lucia, moreover, is one of the few destinations in the Caribbean where the ocean meets a rainforest and waterfalls, such as Diamond Falls. Further down the chain St. Vincent and the Grenadines have more than 32 small islands and islets offering a 60 mile cruise (about 98 km) in some of the bluest waters in the world. Farther south is Grenada known as the spice island, a place to truly relax and sleep in the afternoon after a great meal and then with a pleasant sea breeze sail to the final island, Barbados, internationally known for the friendliness of her people and their passion for cricket.
